Standing tall at about 18ft(top of horn), giraffes are simpy put - majestic! They are non-territorial in nature and, like the people of the land (Tanzanians) - friendly and very sociable. (Picture taken in Mikumi - 2005)

Yes... The magnificient Mount Kilimanjaro!!! What a beautiful sight! I wonder how it feels being at the top of it
I must confess though... the snow seems to cover significantly less area than it used to be - Do I hear "global warming" anyone? (Picture taken in Moshi - March 2006)

Of all the great cats - a male lion commands respect both from man and other beasts. Powerful and confident, a male lion has been a symbol of nobility, courage and loyalty for many decades. No wonder they call it "The King of the Beast!" As I was taking this picture... the message was simple, and yet loud and clear! "this is my place...I can take my time and chill anywhere I want - you guys enjoy the view!". This dude, walked around our car and calmly decided to relax right there by the road. One thing...do not let the lack of good focus on my part fool you - these "things" are huge! Was told they grow to an upward of 400 to 500 pounds - Picture taken in Ngorongoro Crater - 2004)

As we were waiting for our dinner - chating away the evening at "The Mediteranio Hotel" in Dar Es Salaam, the view of the moon coming up (from the water - so it seemed) - captured my imagination - how magnificient (Picture taken while seated at the Mediterranio Hotel dining room - 2004)

Was told term "Hippopotamus" literally mean "river horse"? This gray-coloured, wet- looking, barrel-shaped animal was larger than I thought (you can only see the top when they are under the water). Since they often spend their day "lazying around in water" for the most part of the day; seing this one out and about - grazing - was breath taking (Picture taken in Ngorongoro - 2005)

Karibu / Welcome

Been to Tanzania recently?
